The key to a fulfilling life

It seems as though all we are ever looking for is fulfillment. We try to progress in our careers, travel the world, make families, all in search of a fulfilling life, but what really is the key to fulfillment? As soon as we hit one milestone, or manage to achieve something we have been striving for, we are no longer fulfilled as we are already straight on to wanting the next thing. Is it possible to have a fulfilling life? How do we get to where we want to be?

The secret is change

If you stay where you are, doing the same things you have always done, you will always end up with the same results you have always had. If you want to start feeling more fulfilled, you need to make some steps to change and reinvent your life. By realizing that you have the power to shape yourself, and therefore your entire life, you are given a chance to change those things about you that are slowing you down and stopping you from finding fulfillment. It’s not going to be easy, but by taking away your limits, you allow yourself more energy to focus on where you want to be.

Live in the moment

You do not have to let your past define you, so try to live in the here and now. Be present, in the moment, rather than focus on things that have come before. Living in the past will never lead to happiness or fulfillment, so walk away from it with gratitude, towards your future with open arms.

To get where you want to be, manifest your dreams and desires through visualization. Imagine the way you want your life to be and see yourself really going through the motions of living your very best life. Think about the way you feel, your day to day experiences and those around you. How does your new life look? Smell? Sound? The clearer this visualization, the more likely you are to achieve it. Try to visualize this whenever you waver, and at least once a day, either first thing in the morning or at night before you go to bed. Keep it strong in your mind.

Create a vision board

Whether this is written affirmations, photos or drawings, create a visual reminder of where you want to be to keep your focus at all times. Put it somewhere prominent in your home where you will see it daily, and it can remind you of what it is that you are working towards.

Break up your workload

How are you going to reach your goals? What steps, as small as they may be, can you take right now to start on your path towards them? Be specific and make yourself accountable. Use these short-term tasks as stepping stones towards your main goal.

You will never become fulfilled unless you put in hard work. It isn’t going to be easy, and it will take real courage and tenacity but it is going to be worth it when you build a life you deserve, based entirely on what you decide it is going to be.
