Shoes say a lot about a man and so it is essential that you think about what yours are saying about you. Those ratty old sneakers that you’ve had since college might be super comfortable, but are they really giving off the vibe you want them to? Here are some types of shoes that you absolutely need!
A staple black shoe that is classic and simple as well as professional. This is the perfect shoe if the wearer is attending a formal event, or needs to dress smartly for a job interview for example. Keep it black, keep it polished.
Brogues or Wingtips
Both brogues and wingtips are beautiful shoes (and let’s face it, are pretty much the same shoe but footwear snobs will know the difference, and we’ll be in trouble if we get it wrong) and can be a little more effortlessly stylish than Oxfords. A pair of brown brogues can dress up a pair of chino pants or even a pair of jeans and look stunning when worn with a blue suit.
Boots are a big subheading and there are several types of boot that all men should invest in. The Chelsea boot is a great statement to wear during the winter months and dress boots are perfect for when you need to look literally “suited and booted.” However, invest in a casual boot too, such as a pair of Dr. Martens for rainy days and Mondays.
Loafers are a fantastic, solid shoe that is probably one of the most versatile items in your closet. Dress them up with slacks and wear them to the office, or dress them down for a more casual event with some jeans. They can be worn in any season, with socks, or without! All hail the underappreciated loafer!
A simple pair of minimalist sneakers (in good condition!) is an absolute must-have for any man! They’re easy to slip on and work in almost any setting (note: do not wear to funerals, it’s not a good look!) plus they are comfortable and casual.
Much cooler and more stylish than flip flops, you can feel okay about walking into a restaurant in a pair of Espadrilles. Incredibly comfortable and lightweight for days where you seem to be on your feet all day and they go with so many things!
High Top Sneakers
High top basketball style sneakers never go out of fashion and look great with jeans or shorts for when you’re looking for a more chilled vibe. Warning, buying these types of sneakers will be addictive and if you end up with only one pair we will be astonished!
As great as plain white sneakers or high top basketball shoes look, they are not exactly practical when it comes to running or working out. You need to find shoes that support you, reduce the pressure on your needs and offer superior arch support. If you are serious about working out, you owe it to yourself to invest in a decent pair of running shoes.
If you don’t have these different types of shoes then what are you waiting for?! It’s time to go shopping!
