Style hacks to take from movies

Every person has their own unique style and taste in clothing. From flashy or casual to smart and elegant, we all like to make sure that we look as good as we can. Below are some great tips and styles we can take from movies.

A good suit can make all the difference

Wearing a good suit that fits great can make a huge difference to a person’s appearance and this can be most clearly seen on Will Smith in Men In Black. When the movie starts, Will is a wild cop who dresses very casually. However, when he joins the Men in Black, he wears a black suit permanently. And the difference is astounding. It doesn’t have to be a full three-piece suit either. Just a neat smart suit can make amazing impressions.

Flaunt your style no matter where you are

There is no one with more iconic looks than the flashy girl from Flushing, Fran Drescher. Her ability to flaunt her own unique style with confidence no matter the situation can be most clearly seen in her 1997 film, The Beautician and the Beast, in which her character becomes a childminder for the children of the leader of a foreign country. Not only does she wear some of the most incredibly flashy outfits, but she does so despite being in the home of a man who is seen as a military dictator in his country. She wears her style with pride and does not let anyone tell her what to wear.

Comfort and practicality

Mike Myers’ Shrek is the perfect example of how comfort and practicality are important. Shrek’s wardrobe is based on comfort, with a simple, yet durable sackcloth outfit that is perfect for the swamp environment in which he lives. It is also a signature look and he would look strange wearing anything else. There is no need to dress all fancy if it is impractical to do so, so if you work in the dirt and mud then dress appropriately.

A good hat goes a long way

Another one of Mike Myers’ characters, the infamous Cat In The Hat, is a perfect example of how a good hat can be the perfect accessory for any outfit. Hats are wonderful things, so don’t be afraid to pick out a good one before you leave the house. It will almost certainly take your outfit to a whole new level.

Don’t be afraid to change it up

Amongst the many lessons we can learn from 2003’s Freaky Friday, perhaps one of the best is that sometimes we all need a change. When Jamie-Lee Curtis and Linsay Lohan switch bodies in the film, their characters decide that they need a bit of a makeover in terms of style. Sometimes, a change in style can make a huge difference in your life as well. Not only is it invigorating, but as we grow older we need to remember that we can adjust our fashion and style to suit our changing bodies.

Take advice from others

Another great style tip that we can learn from Freaky Friday is that sometimes we may need to take advice from others when it comes to what looks good. Because the characters have switched, each one of them has a fashion makeover based on what the other feels looks good. And the results are beautiful, fresh, and fabulous.
