Tips for looking fashionable on a budget

If we had millions of dollars in the bank, there’s no doubt about the fact that we would spend all of it on clothes. After all, there’s always something new to buy! The sad reality of the matter is that we most definitely don’t have millions of dollars in the bank, which means that we can’t buy new clothes every day. This sad reality can often make people feel as though they are not fashionable because you can’t stay on top of the trends and buy these new items that make their way from the runway into your favorite stores. What these people don’t realize, however, is that you don’t have to shell out a fortune to look fashionable!

Inspect the quality

If you’re buying clothes that are much cheaper than those that you will find in designer stores, then you can almost guarantee that the quality is going to be worse. The fabric may feel different, it may change shape or color after washing, and it might even develop a few holes on first wear. That’s why you need to take extra care when buying new items because poor quality fabrics will look much cheaper than they are. Take the time to have a real feel of the fabrics, because cheap clothing of good quality will look like a million dollars.

Make use of a single color

When in doubt; opt for monochrome. When you see the likes of Blake Lively and Victoria Beckham make their way down the red carpet, they aren’t decked out in various different colors or patterns. Instead, they opt for a single color throughout, and they look absolutely stunning. Although you can do this with any color throughout your whole outfit, you’ll look even more fashionable if you choose black. After all, it’s one of the most stylish colors out there. You just can’t go wrong with a black outfit.

Ditch the whitewashed jeans

With this in mind, we think it’s about time that you ditched the whitewashed jeans. If you want to look like you’ve spent a few hundred dollars on your outfit when you’ve actually just spent a few dollars, then opting for darker jeans will definitely give that illusion. That’s because light and whitewashed jeans normally come complete with rips or fraying, and this makes them seem much more casual. On the other hand, dark jeans look structured, they look clean, and they look elegant. As if that wasn’t cool enough, black is flattering on any body type!
