Learn to apologize sincerely. You have the power to own your mistakes and learn from them to become a better person. If you are in the wrong, apologize and mean it.
Learn to listen and to forgive
There is a difference between hearing and listening. Give someone the joy of having your full attention and actively listening to what they have to say. Not only will you make them feel special, but the chances are that you will get something out of listening too. It can be challenging to let go of resentment, but it is much healthier for your own mental well-being to do so. Let go of the negativity of the past and forgive those who are sorry for having wronged you. This isn’t easy, but it is worth it.
Although anything you can do to benefit the whole world is great, you can make a real difference by starting locally. For example, choose local businesses over big chains and know that you are contributing to real people’s livelihoods. Donate to local charities and support local causes. Look after your community, and it will look after you. Also, As cliche as that sounds, it really will make you a better person. Embrace yourself, your beliefs, values, and identities, and when you become happier with yourself, you will make others happier too.
Never stop learning
Although your formal education may have ended, you should never stop soaking up knowledge and develop new skills. Learn about things you don’t yet understand from those people that do and gain a better awareness of the world and others.
Put yourself in the shoes of another person and consider how they would feel. Use this skill to help you interact and communicate with other and to become a more thoughtful person. Empathy is the key to great relationships and something that improves with practice.
