Tricks to keep your makeup in place all day long

Have you ever had one of those days where your makeup has been so incredible you kinda had a crush on your face? Don’t worry; you’re not alone. Makeup is a cruel mistress, and one wrong move can be the difference between a cool and collected smoky eye and you being the newest cast addition to the Kung Fu Panda movies. Yep, getting your eyeliner right takes time and dedication. Finding the right foundation shade requires code-breaking skills, and applying lipstick without getting it on your teeth really is an art. Because of all of this hassle, our heart starts to break when we realize that a little bit of rain, a hot room or an itchy eye has ruined the whole shebang. So, how do you keep your makeup in place all day long?

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!

How many times have you seen a beauty blogger talk about exfoliation and you’ve rolled your eyes? We’re gonna assume it’s more than once because we do it too! In fact, we’re so fed up with people talking about exfoliation that we’re fed up with our own words right now – but there is some truth in it. Exfoliation is one of the best ways to ensure that your makeup stays in place all day long, because it removes all of the bumps and texture of your skin, leaving behind a smooth surface which is the perfect base for your contours and your highlighters.

Use oil-free products

If you have dry skin, finding oily products can be a godsend. They can fill in those cracks, they can make your skin look all dewy and beautiful, and they can just lift your skin into the realm of beautiful. However, we all know that oil is slippery, so why would oily makeup products be any different? These products will slip off your face at the slightest hint of sweat or moisture, which will ruin all of your hard work. Instead, choose a foundation and other products that are oil-free to ensure that they cling to your skin for longer.

Find the perfect powder

So, you’ve used your concealer and your liquid foundation, so what’s next? Well, because these creams and liquids are often quite heavy, they will find it easier to slide down your face – so you need something more loose to put on top of them. This is where finishing powder comes into play. If you can find a powder that is the same shade as your foundation you’re onto a winner because this powder will lock onto your skin and keep what’s underneath in place, too. That sounds kinda ominous, but it’s a good thing.

Choose waterproof

Unfortunately, our lives are the most unpredictable things in the world, and we have no idea where each day is going to take us. We may find ourselves bursting into tears at the sight of a cute puppy, we might find ourselves in the middle of a storm, or we might just find ourselves jumping into a pool for no reason at all. The waterworks are always going to affect your makeup, so it’s probably best to ensure that you just choose waterproof every single day. Trust us, it really will be the best option.

Find yourself a setting spray

Luckily, there are no more weird tips and tricks to make sure your makeup stays and we don’t have to spray hairspray on our faces anymore to ensure that our makeup will slay all hours of the day. Instead, we just have to believe in science and buy a setting spray! These sprays not only seal your look at the start of the day, but they can also keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the day with an extra few sprays. You cannot leave the house without one in your purse.

Is your makeup always sliding off? Well, the rough days are over, because we’ve got your back.
