Things were also not always great for Swayze in his personal life. A few years before his diagnosis, he and Niemi split due to the personal problems that Swayze was experiencing.
The two were still committed to each other, but Swayze’s disillusionment with film and sometimes self-destructive behavior was putting too much of a strain on the relationship. They would, however, reunite a short time before Swayze’s diagnosis, staying together until he passed in 2009.
