The Graceland mansion was built in 1939 by Ruth and Thomas Moore – and from outside you would hardly guess that it was the famously gaudy house of Elvis Presley.
The exterior of the house is classic and neat – and yes, there are giant pillars at the door, but they’re simple rather than being ornately decorated with carvings, and almost seem like a natural fit with the simple and clean brickwork of the rest of the mansion.
